Sunday Post (July 19)

Sunday PostThe Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news, a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things received, and share news about what is coming up on the blog for the week ahead. To get in on the Sunday funday, see the rules here: Sunday Post Meme.  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Last weekend my friend came up from out of town for a short and quick birthday celebration. We spent the day at Schlitterbahn. Although we suffered sore calves, splotchy red legs (damn you, spray on sunscreen!), lost sunglasses and shoes, and all-around redness, it was fun. We also ate Lunchables like we were six years old. 🙂

Also, Baby has taken up squirrel stalking. That’s right – squirrel stalking. She will monitor the backyard from the bedroom window for any movement, and when she thinks she sees a squirrel, she acts like she needs to go emergency potty to hunt the squirrel down. When she’s stalking, she won’t even glance at me. That’s how dead-set she is on her prey. It’s kind of funny, but also annoying because she will not relent on the “emergency.”

Do you see that stalking gleam in her eye? Serious business.

  1. Sounds like you had a great time with your friend and I’m with you on the spray on sunscreen! It’s so easy but it never ends up doing a good job. Baby’s squirrel stalking is hilarious. I can imagine it could be annoying to have to let her out right that moment though! Good for you for getting 3 of your 10 books reviewed! I’m pretty sure all mine are buried in stacks. Have a great week!

    • It was a great time! That spray on sunscreen is no bueno…and I have two cans of it. :/ Oh, Katherine, it is SO annoying when she decides in a flurry she MUST GO RIGHT NOW and I know she’s being a big fat liar and doesn’t have to go at all. She never does that in the living room, so sometimes I’ll kick her out of the bedroom. I’m trying to make up some time I wasted in June. I felt like I got nothing done. Find those books! 🙂

  2. Haha, squirrel stalking. It sounds like a fun hobby. My dogs are too old and lazy for that these days though. They’ll pounce after them if they see them once they’re already outside, but they don’t actively look for them. Maybe I should recommend it to them. I think they need a hobby 😉

    • Most of the time she sees a bird’s movement and thinks it’s a squirrel, so then she chases after the squirrel’s regular yard patterns trying to find it. She’s convinced one day she’ll get a squirrel. Baby also “stargazes” out the front windows during the daytime with her head sideways on the couch, and she’s started getting sunburned on the side that faces the sun!

  3. Ug, spray sunscreen! I ended up with a 2nd degree sunburn when Harry Potter #7 was released due to spray sunscreen. I will never use it again. Oh, the pain. The dryness. The peeling! I was miserable. Keep aloe handy and Solarcaine (aloe with a pain reliever) and don’t hesitate to see your Doc if you can’t seem to keep the area hydrated. It might be worse than you think.

Have a good week and heal fast,

  4. I’m off to read your ‘art of commenting’ post as I wonder what others do etc. I try to read others’ blogs and comment as much as possible but I sometimes struggle!

  5. Thank you SO much for mentioning my post and our event! It means a lot, we really appreciate it 🙂 And Schlitterbahn is on my bucket list, no joke! I saw it on the travel channel years ago and well… I do love a water park! I am glad you had fun (though I totally feel your sunscreen pain- I once had a handprint-shaped white spot on my back ALL summer) and Lunchables are always a win! Baby is so cute too! Hope you have a wonderful week 🙂

    • You’re welcome! I’m old enough that I remember the original park. True story: I went down the frog slide and started bobbing like a fishing bobber…bottom up! My mom was laughing so hard she almost let me drown! It’s been several years since I’ve been, and they’ve definitely updated a few things and built some new stuff. My tip: You gotta get there early if you want a table in the shade. 🙂
