The man came home Tuesday! 🙂 His flight from Boston was delayed due to weather, and when they did re-board people could not get seated within 30 minutes and they were delayed again. The flight attendants were just standing around. We were both pretty pissed. He finally arrived hours and hours later. I almost cried when I picked him up.

He spoils her!

He got home and started opening all the packages that had come while he was away. He let Baby choose which toy she wanted, and she ran out the door with a baby moose. She wouldn’t even let us take it off the cardboard packaging. (Later she also claimed a baby duck.)

After going through all the boxes, he brought one over to me. It had this white bedding thing in it. This was totally unexpected. I looked at it and pulled out the white thing. It was a heating pad for my entire bed! After my illness from Thanksgiving onward and I used the heating pad every night, he sneakily inquired about my bed size. He’d been planning this purchase for over a month!

After a while he told me to look in the box again. He bought a charging dock for all of my electronics!  (Although we couldn’t get the cover off to change out the plugs. We were too scared it would break.)

He also started setting up the spare bedroom for Baby and Lucy. There’s still a few more things he needs to do, but they will have their own little bedroom.

Mama, look at my new room!

He went back to work on New Year’s day, so he took me ice skating at a very expensive, luxurious resort in the most affluent area of Austin. It was semi-private and so fun. Then, we climbed to the top of Mount Bonnell and looked out over the river at all the million-dollar homes before he talked himself into taking me downtown to see the fireworks show…that was starting in 40 minutes. He kept jokingly complaining that it was going to be a shit show (it was) and we’d never get a parking spot (we didn’t), but he still made it work and we had front-row seats for the show. He said he had wanted to take me out in one of the boats on the river to watch the fireworks. I told him we’d do that next year. 🙂

2016 has started off really well for Baby and me! We are just waiting to get Lucy back next week. Baby will be in doggy heaven, I will be relieved, and the man can tie up some loose ends.

TWO DAYS!

The man flies back in two days. I pick him up at the airport on Tuesday before lunch. I am so excited! Baby and I have missed him terribly. You know, they really are right: absence makes the heart grow fonder (in certain circumstances, of course).

Meanwhile, Baby and I have had some adventures tromping around his house. Every night he has put on a light show for us in the dining room. 🙂 We are living in the world of technology, people!

My mom, youngest brother and I traveled to Marble Falls and Johnson City on Tuesday to see the lights.

Wanna know why I have felt so exhausted these last few weeks?

Let’s try double ear infection AND upper respiratory infection! I have been battling the ear infections for two weeks, post-flu shot mind you, without even knowing I had them. My great new doctor (the one who got the ball rolling on my GI issues earlier this year) is sending me to an ENT and audiologist because this is a historical problem with me, as well as an allergist.

so this is

I got a steroid shot, steroid meds, and a super duper allergy med to take in combination with the allergy pill I’m already taking and Nasacort. Miracle Doctor, y’all.

The man left last Sunday. Baby and I took him to the airport to fly up north to be with his family. When he was packing his suitcase, she sat on top of it. When we got to the airport, she tried to run in after him. She loves him so much! It is going to be a tough 16 days.

Also, the new joke is: Let’s go look at Christmas lights! The day before flying out, the man wanted to take me to the shooting range. Surprisingly, in Texas there aren’t that many in our area. We went to two and they were overflowing with hours waitlist. On the hour-plus drive back home, my contribution was to go look at Christmas lights.

Five minutes later I was passed out on the police man boyfriend’s super hunky guns. The ones that can carry me, not shoot deadly explosives. He’s not going to let me live that one down…

OH!! AAND! The debt with the ex-fiancé is paid off! Done! My credit union also approved my personal loan to consolidate the remainder of my debt that has compounded from paying for two households last year. AND then my amazingly wonderful credit union loan officer said, “Uh, by the way, we can do so much better on your Jeep.” And he drew up the papers. I’ve compared it to national interest rates for a loan with half the lifetime as mine, and my CU still beat the interest rate by nearly .75%. Booo-ya!

Oh, and no, I haven’t forgotten about Jeff Anderson. I just haven’t had any time this week. I promise next week I’ll reveal all Jeff Anderson…and maybe my Christmas surprises! (Ahem, presents.)

And the last, and better be last, is that I got to tell my know-it-all-about-animals friend that I did, indeed, have RATS in my house after I made her be in charge of disposing of the first “mouse” caught in the trap. I will not scar you for life with the decapitated blue rat we found…which means there are more. I am displaced from my house for the entire holiday until after new year. The landlord had better get it right this time. Most recently I discovered they had eaten my candles in the bedroom and living room, meaning they are not localized to the kitchen anymore. Can you tell I’m not a happy camper about all this? Meanwhile, the man is enjoying peeking in on Baby and me in his house via the home security cameras, turning on lights for us, etc. It’s kinda fun. 🙂

Remember last week when I said I would be getting up a post all about going to Jeff Anderson’s workshop? Well, I had every intention of doing so, but I didn’t even have time to call and make a doctor’s appointment. It really sucks being a teacher because all of your available time to make phone calls like that, or to say your bank or credit card company, are in full use by your job duties. Look for one this week instead! … And I will also be putting up my Christmas tree this week, too.

So on one of those days that I was up all night, I cashed in on Ebates and bought over $500 in bedding from JCPenney’s for only $189. Earlier last week I was so excited because there was a large package on my porch. I thought it had arrived!

It was only my king size pair of pillows. :/

And apparently Beauty & the Beast is extremely popular on Amazon right now because even with my Prime Membership, it is estimating two weeks to ship. What is up?

I did, however, receive my boxed set of Harry Potter! I ordered in paperback, and I’m OK with that. I’m still waiting on the Illustrated Edition of HP and the Sorcerer’s Stone for my mother. I made a BIG SISTER-I’M THE OLDEST executive decision and told my younger brothers we were getting it for her Christmas gift. And that they owed me money. 🙂

On the homefront, the mice are now trapped in my house. My landlord came and fixed some things that should have been taken care of long before I ever moved in (last November), and now Baby is attacking the stove at every opportunity. They even broke the first shot glass souvenir I ever bought from my senior band trip to Florida.

It is on! This will be The Long Winter of the Hunger Games. And it ain’t going to be Baby and me who die.

This week was the week from hell. (Have I already said that? I feel like I said that last week…)

I was off campus on Tuesday and Thursday for professional development. My students finished their novel unit this on Wednesday. I gave them Thursday and Friday as work days to finalize all of their novel unit work and take the reading/comprehension test on it.

On Tuesday I drank two large Dr. Peppers at lunch. I was up ALL NIGHT LONG. I had super official people pushing into my classroom on Wednesday afternoon. I didn’t have lunch that day preparing for them. I was at school until 10:50 PM Wednesday night getting everything ready for my sub as I teach a language arts class, an intervention class, and a creative writing class. On Thursday I had tea at lunch and was up again all night long. I am super sleep deprived.

Some amazing things came out of last week, though. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more alive than I did in Jeff Anderson‘s “classroom.” I felt reinvigorated for life.

  • I have decided I want to continue my writing. No more excuses.
  • I discovered one of the primary reasons why I stopped, and now I have a writing buddy…who conveniently lives six houses down the street. 🙂

I LOVED my workshop on Thursday, with none other than the hilarious Jeff Anderson, author of ZACH DELACRUZ: Me and My Big Mouth. Look for pictures and more later this week…you know, when I can see straight.

 ~ Last Week  on G1000W ~

As I was preparing this post, which was broken up in chunks as I was working while listening to the amazing author Jeff Anderson in a teacher training workshop about writing (revising, specifically), it suddenly hit me like a meteor-shower: why am I not including my Sunday Post from the previous week in my posts? I’ve seen  others include their previous Sunday Post and even thought, “Huh, that’s a good idea,” … and then the thought leaves the train station.

No Top Ten Tuesday this week. I DID the post…but it disappeared. I’m relegated to believe that was supposed to happen, so no use chasing it down. Things happen for reasons, right?

Then I realized my “homework” this week was to get a Thoughts on Thursday discussion post together and I realized on Thursday that I hadn’t done it. Work has been a time suck this week…

Life has been slowsville this past week, with Thanksgiving and all. It was refreshing to not have to stress and worry about the holiday and my family since I spent it with the man and Lucy. He had two days of Daddy Day Care with the girls, during which they plotted and dug more holes in the backyard.

Here they are secretly plotting:

12122507_10153306578177643_9162980592822045892_n

I also had a Thanksgiving surprise visitor, who was very, very angry, and not just because I almost stepped on him.

12120249_767677703337249_1639269200_n

I was also pretty impressed with myself. I took care of some housekeeping work (the tip of the iceberg), I created my 2016 challenge pages and I took a leap and advantage of an easy graphics site.

What do you guys think?

This past week was hectic at school. Kids think they are already on break; I had some real winners with six and eight zeroes for assignments! I also had to say goodbye to one of my team members from my first year teaching, which was hard and quite honestly a bit sad.

I was also volunteered to participate in the Orange Santa events that my school takes part in each year, and one of my lucky students I teach this year won the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to smash a pie in my face! Except, he wouldn’t stop. I could not breathe, as indicated in the picture below by my colleagues being over and done with and me still being smothered, hence me reaching for his arm so I could breathe.

11046360_10153298630272643_7698223887686335219_n

12240040_10153298630307643_6989203285761135117_n

And then my colleague to my left took his second pie and smashed it on the top of my head in my hair, and then also tried to suffocate me.

He has brought on The Year of Pranks. I am accepting suggestions.

Some suggestions have been:

  • Set a bunch of alarm clocks in all of his cabinets in the science lab to go off during his most misbehaved class
  • A room full of baby chickens
  • Glitter everything

I need your best prank suggestions! Must be acceptable for middle school.
