The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week poses a book-related question. The hop starts on Friday and ends on Thursday. The purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers.
Have you ever read a book written in a foreign language you might be fluent in, and then read the same book in English? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)
I am not fluent in any other language. I took 5 years of Spanish from middle to high school and I was fluent then, but it is true that if you don’t use it, you lose it. I have always been able to read and write better due to processing time, and now I can read a little. It’s nowhere close to what it used to be, though.
Yeah, I was never very fluent in the languages I took. Spanish was a struggle, then I did Latin, but yeah, time away from studying it and I hardly remember my vocab!
Here’s my Blogger Hop
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
I had four years of Spanish in high school and I read a book in Spanish then, but I didn’t read the English version of it.
We read a bunch of stories in Spanish, but never a full book.
We did a fair amount of stories too! I liked the stories a lot more than the book.
I know what you are saying. I took four years of high school Spanish and two years of college Spanish. Twenty years later, I don’t even remember how to conjugate a verb.
Yep. I wish I had had an outlet to continue using it.
It’s been the same with me, I’m afraid. I studied Spanish in high school and college, but remember so little of it now after years of not using it. I hope you have a great weekend, Charlie!
Trying to stay dry now that hurricane Harvey hit! I did brave out this morning about 8:00 to fill up my car. It’s been raining since. Now we’re getting higher winds.

I took Spanish in high school and college, but I don’t remember most of it. I definitely couldn’t read a book written in Spanish.
