Book Blogger Hop ~ Psyching Yourself Up

book-blogger-hop

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week poses a book-related question. The hop starts on Friday and ends on Thursday. The purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers.

At the end of a hard day, how do you get yourself psyched about writing a book review? (submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)

I don’t. If it is past my prime productive hour, I won’t even start. I sleep on it and start refreshed the next day. I am horrible about reading an incoming text or message on my phone, then getting interrupted. I set it down and forget to reply. Once I get on the focus train, I literally tune everything else out. It’s like I’m in a bubble. I was once accused of purposely ignoring my ex almost mother-in-law when I was working on blog projects years ago.

The trance train is not always where it’s at, though. There are many times I can recall two years ago where I struggled to focus and couldn’t seem to get a review written without it taking four hours because “Oh, look, the dog is doing something cute” or “Uuuuugggghhhh, I don’t know what to even say.”

Who knows what I’ll get when I start writing reviews again?

  1. Okay, I’m starting to feel like an outcast based on the few answers I’ve read so far! Lol. In order for me to be able to read another book, I have to write a review for the previously read one. I can’t read more than one book at a time because I will likely cross wires with details on things, so I now just do it one book at a time and then write the review as soon as I finish while everything is fresh in my head. Then I move onto the next one!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • Yeah….I don’t have that problem. After about three books, though, I do. That’s when things get messy for me. Two years ago, I was waiting WEEKS (maybe even a month on some) to write my review. It was awful and my procrastination was at its best then.
