DILEMMA
Y’all! I am so upset right now. If you saw from my Sunday post (which I forgot to post until this morning – whoops!), I started reading again!! I have been a super stressed ostrich all year. In fact, I’ve met with my principal twice this semester and both sessions ended in tears on my part. Poor guy. Anyway, I ignored reading because of the stress. Plus, reading would mean writing reviews, which is time and energy I didn’t have to give. But now! Now I am on a reading frenzy. I can’t escape my life into other worlds enough. I read three books last week in only a few days! I was ready to prowl on to the next book on my list while I was at school on Friday…
And my Kindle wouldn’t turn on! I thought it was out of juice, but no. When I got home I discovered Poco chewed on the cord, so I found another one and plugged it in.
Nothing.
I wanted to cry.
So this brings me to my dilemma. One, I don’t know if I can get all of my ARC books and Amazon books back. Guidance much appreciated. Second, I don’t know if replacing the battery is even the problem. So…what do I do? Buy a new battery and hope that does the trick? Or splurge and get the Oasis? Or is there an alternative? I’ve dreaded this day coming when my Kindle would kaput, and now it’s here. And I don’t know what to do.
That’s a terrible feeling! My kindle died a glorious death about a year ago and I upgraded to the Oasis. I love it!
As far as the ARCs go, if they were uploaded via amazon they may still be in your library under documents. Crossing my fingers that it all works out for you!
While you wait for a new kindle, you can download the kindle app and read that way 😉
I sent the ARCS from NetGalley to my Kindle via my Kindle address. So do you think they’d be in my library in the documents? How do I even find my library?
Then yep they should be there. Login to Amazon and follow the below steps.
My Account > Content and Devices > this page defaults to show books purchased through your Kindle. There should be a drop down menu near the top. Click “documents” or “docs.” Anything sent to your kindle email should be there.
Your kindle is just the device – amazon is the place that holds your data/books/ARCs. Every time you decide to upgrade your kindle you can upload your Amazon library or decide what books you want to upload. Good luck!
This is such a relief! I was reading something about how I had to have both devices on, and thought “That might be a problem…”
Nah, it’s pretty easy. I’ve switched so many times from one device to the other. And my sister and best friend lost theirs – it’s all stored on Amazon. They have the power to take it away too 😂
Looks like you already got good advice on how to get back to your downloaded books, so I won’t bother to chime in. Hope you recovered everything okay and are happy with your new device (or battery, depending on what you decided)!
