The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week poses a book-related question. The hop starts on Friday and ends on Thursday. The purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers.
Oh my lanta! YES! If it looks like your blog is a Myspace account, I won’t comment and I won’t be back. If all the colors are neon vomit, I can’t read it and won’t be back. If the type is teeny, I can’t read it and click out immediately. If the primary blog column – the one for the actual posts – is the same size as the left and right bars, I won’t be back. That’s ridiculous. If your sidebars are full of shit – usually useless shit – I won’t be back.
I’m sorry, but all of these things make your blog…
- look unreliable
- look like a spam site
Neither of those are good things. I’m not going to deal with website/blog vomit. There are so many more worthy blogs to read and respond.
Also, as an after thought, all of these neon vomit blogs I have visited in the past…they never comment back.
I agree with you on these points. Though I admit, I do sometimes try to read some of the posts, especially if there’s a review I want to read. Though for the most part not too many of the blogs I follow do this. It varies between 2-3 columns with 2 being for advertising and other blog content links. What really bothers me though are the gifs people use sometimes. I mean they are fun, but for me it distracts me from reading the content. Usually I end up blocking them so I can read the review/posts otherwise my eyes are always drifting back to them and not reading what I should be reading!
Here’s my Book Blogger Hop
Have a GREAT day!
