Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Worlds

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. For the list of past topics and future schedule, click here.

Bookish Worlds I’d Never Want to Live In

I would not want to live in Panem (The Hunger Games). Just reading about Districts 1 and 2 pissed me off. What they did to District 13 and the entire invention of The Hunger Games is just cruel. It is a dystopian, antiquated society for sure. I can’t say I would be any different than Katniss…except I wouldn’t have the wherewithal to keep my mouth shut and play along. I’d wind up being killed for sure.

Middle Earth

I never read J.R.R. Tolkein’s books besides The Hobbit (4th grade), but I did see one of the movies. I was more terrified than anything else, so I definitely wouldn’t want to live in Middle-Earth (The Lord of the Rings).

Westeros and Essos

I watched the first two seasons of Game of Thrones and I would not want to live during this time or in either Westeros or Essos. It’s too violent, too shady, and too strange. The craze and extremes of the weather cycles, the blood thirst and back stabbing, the other proclivities…it’s a world I don’t think I’d survive in long, either.

Bookish Worlds I’d Want to Live In

Do I really need to explain this? Who wouldn’t want to live forever at Hogwarts? The most magical place on Earth! (Sorry Disney.) The bravery and desire for knowledge and growth and the competitive side of the houses – not to mention magic! – are right up my alley.

Which bookish worlds would you want to never visit? Which ones would you never leave?
