Sunday Post ~ Feel the Burn

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This week was a strange week. I don’t remember much. I am still tired from being sick last week. One morning I almost didn’t get out of bed. I stayed at school really late on Tuesday trying to get caught up on some things. I spent half the day Wednesday proctoring UIL Writing and it was a nice change of pace. Friday was a relatively smooth day and I was able to catch up and get all the grades from last week entered. My yearbook kids also submitted our first spread to the plant. They are working diligently on finishing up the student portraits so we can submit those next week. We are behind schedule, but it is what it is.

On Thursday night we celebrated my baby brother’s 18th birthday. He wanted to eat at this steakhouse our aunt took him to. The place was waaaaay out in the boonies. I didn’t get home until 9:30. The food was good even if it was out of the way. My oldest brother tried to start shit about not being invited. He’s about 500 miles away on military training. Oh, look, he can talk to his family. Huh.

Yesterday The Man and I had a big scare. He had just woken up and was in the bathroom. The dogs kept going in and out to the backyard, and then all of a sudden I heard a loud crash and dogs. I threw my phone and bolted out the backdoor. I came running around the side of the house – sans bra – and slid right in fresh dog shit and planted my face right into the fence gate. Apparently Baby busted down two panels and went after a neighbor’s dog. This neighbor lets them run all over, and the smaller one is notorious for getting out. Cera followed and just wanted to play, but Baby was being aggressive, which is not her nature or personality. The fence is temporarily fixed and will be reinforced, but I ripped her a new one and then fell apart. I finally kind of got it together by the time he had to leave for the jail. Baby moped around all night and Cera went back and forth between us, trying to comfort us both.

I didn’t get much reading done this week, which I’m really bummed about. I did get some blogging tasks taken care of and those reviews written. I have to read two books on my NetGalley list this month in order to meet one of my challenges. It’s starting to look like that may not happen, but I’m holding out hope.

I got my first bullet journal and discussion post written yesterday, so those will be rolling out this week.

  1. I have those weeks sometimes, too, when I don’t really know exactly what I did – only that things were getting done. All the time.
I’m glad you’re feeling better, Charlie, and that you got your grades entered. That’s an accomplishment 😀
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  2. What a week! At least you got your grades entered and the kids’ projects are almost finished. I hope you are feeling better!!!! And I hope you have a great week this week!

  3. I have added a bunch of books this week. I am currently reading Dead Lemon by Finn Bell a thriller and I really like it. Looks like a great week. I love the construction guy…Is that why it takes so long? =)

Have a great week of reading!

  4. Looks like we’ve been having the same week. Your picture of the steak house makes me long for one. I’m thinking dinner out is the order of the day:)

  5. My goodness that was one heck of a week. I hate weeks that I do so much and accomplish nothing. Make me feel like I need an extra day to catch my breath.

I hope this week is better for you and Happy Birthday to your Brother.

Have a great week, Charlie! Happy Reading! ox

  6. Congratulations on your youngest brothers birthday. I’m glad the food was good! 😉
That scare sounds crazy. And yikes about standing in the dog shot. I’m glad everything was okay in the end.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  7. Our dog drives us crazy with barking at the next-door neighbor’s little dog. She’s really sweet, but when she barks at them, she sounds like she’s going to go on an attack rampage and she won’t come back in without us getting her and physically hauling her into the house with her leash. It’s so incredibly frustrating and we haven’t been able to figure out a solution!

  8. I am glad you and the dogs are okay! One of my brother’s dogs is an escape artist and is always getting out. I am just sorry you had to go through all that. And what a week on top of that too! I hope you have a better week this week!

  9. Wow, that sounds like quite a week! I’m sorry about your face (I hope it’s OK) and your fence. I wonder what made Baby act aggressive, if she doesn’t usually? The little dog must have been trash-talking her.

Here’s hoping this week is a little quieter!
