Book Blogger Hop ~ 1.12.18

book-blogger-hop

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week poses a book-related question. The hop starts on Friday and ends on Thursday. The purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers.

Have you ever thought of writing a respectful, but angry letter to an author to ask them WHY they killed off one of your favorite characters in a novel? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

I have never thought of writing a letter to an author asking them to explain killing off a character…or asking them anything else, for that matter. I have, however, thought of writing an angry, as-respectful-as-possible letter to an author to inform them to quit sending daily emails criticizing my review of their book. I just started ignoring them and within two weeks the emails stopped.

  1. Oh wow! I’ve never had an author come back at me for writing a less than stellar review of their book! That’s so unprofessional! Not everyone is going to love their book, I don’t understand why they think that they should. Though I need to seriously wipe off the coat of dust on my WIP I know it won’t be enjoyed by everyone.

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. I read a lot of horror so I expect and sometimes want beloved characters to die. LOL It’s what keeps the suspense at its highest. Only ever had one author criticize a review. He was persistent.

  3. I wouldn’t write an angry letter asking WHY they killed off a favorite character. I’m sure they had their reasons.

As for authors upset about a review, I tend to ignore those emails and comments. Best not to engage.
