Book Blogger Hop ~ 11.10.17

book-blogger-hop

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week poses a book-related question. The hop starts on Friday and ends on Thursday. The purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers.

What is your favorite part of blogging? Is there a least favorite part of blogging? (submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews)

My favorite part is kind of two-fold. I love getting to read books (for free!) that I enjoy. It is always my choice and no one else’s and there are so many wonderful stories out there to disappear into.

The second part is getting to share and visit and see all these wonderful book lovers around the world through our blogs. I admit I am horrible at visiting and commenting. I’m relegated to weekends only at this point, and I feel awful and I feel it is hurting my own blog traffic, but that’s life.

I think my least favorite part of blogging is the feeling of competition and underachieving because we are always comparing ourselves to other bloggers. Also, time. A lot of the administrative housekeeping tasks require time and that’s in short supply. I feel like anyone looking at those more housekeeping pages (eeerrrr….review archive) will find I struggle keeping those updated throughout the entire year.

  1. Time is definitely an issue for us all! I am still always stunned to see bloggers who can read 200+ books a year! My goal is always 100 and that includes a handful of novellas making up that number! Though I’ve surpassed 100 already this year but about 14-15 (I think?) were comic books, plus the handful of novellas. Not too many this year as of yet, but yeah. Still pretty proud of my 100 but comparing oneself to another blogger is hard not to do! Because yeah, it happens!

Still wouldn’t give up blogging for anything though, no matter how little or lot I put into it. It’s too much fun sharing thoughts about books and reading other’s thoughts about books! It’s honestly the most social interaction I get since I’m one of those weird people who don’t do well in real life social situations! Lol. Trying to fix that by getting a job where there are actually people to interact with but even that is slow going and hard! And wow, I just talked a LOT! Lol! Sorry! 😉

    Here’s my Book Blogger Hop

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  2. I agree with some of the administrative stuff getting tedious. I really like the *writing* part of blogging, but sometimes that seems like such a small part of it all!

  3. I totally agree with both your favorite and least favorite. I hate when I get behind too. I don’t necessarily “have to” do anything with my blog, but I have standards for myself with posting and ARCs and I hate when I fall short of my own goals. It doesn’t help that everyone seems to have much more going on and is managing to keep up. I am not sorry to be a blogger though. There is much more good then bad.
    Thanks for sharing this!

    • Yes, I feel the same. It is hard to manage and keep up. I see some who have kids and I’m like “HOW. Just HOW!?” I am happy I found this for myself, too. I wouldn’t give it up, and I get upset with myself too when I don’t meet a goal I set out for myself with something on the blog. I try to keep everything relative, though. Like, honestly, did I have time to do that? Or was there really no time? It’s hard being hard on yourself!

  4. I agree with your favorite parts and least favorite part. Yes, the administrative stuff always takes a back seat. I, too, need to update the books reviewed lists and cross post reviews. We’ll find the time one of these days. 😉

I love sharing my reads with everyone and meeting people from around the world through blogging.
