Book Blogger Hop ~ 9.15.17

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week poses a book-related question. The hop starts on Friday and ends on Thursday. The purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers.

Have you ever bought a more expensive edition of a book, when a cheaper edition was available, just because you preferred the cover of the more expensive one? (submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books)

Uh, no. In fact, I would buy the cheaper version every time…except when I bought my Harry Potter boxed set. I bought it for myself for Christmas two years ago. True to form, I bought the cheaper box set, but I really wanted the dark covers. So when the price dropped after income tax season, I bought the set I wanted and gifted the original set to my mom. That’s the only time I’ve ever bought a more expensive edition, and even then I waited for the price to come down.

  1. I being a fool literally just missed the sale! I felt like I waited ages and it was never going to be cheaper so I waited until I got a 10% off coupon from Book Depository and then bought them! Naturally less than 6 months later they appear on Book Outlet. Le sigh…

But it’s not so much that I’d pay more for a book with a different cover…though I do do that too, for the most part I don’t mind paying extra for extra content inside!

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. Harry Potter is the only instance that I will buy other cover editions. Otherwise, I usually go with the cheaper version.

  3. If it’s a paperback that I’m probably not going to keep I definitely go for whatever’s cheapest. If it’s a book I think I’ll keep I might spend a little more on a pretty cover but only a little bit!

  4. I definitely do. It’s a problem hahah. BUT I only do it if it’s an author I really like, or a series I love or something, not ALL the books. But I have made that mistake in the past- I spent WAYY too much money on a UK hardcover of Uprooted… only to not even like the book. It’s a problem!
