Overview: The story’s small town of Danville Heights, a carefully crafted universe, contrasts with the dark, gloomy town of Sandry Lake, where evil abounds. Upon the boys’ mysterious incident with the energy source, they’re instinctively called to Sandry Lake to root out evil. Their senses guide them each time. However, secrecy about their mission, furious battles with evil thugs, extreme fatigue, and stress and pressure soon overwhelm the boys, but they must find a way to embrace their fate. A lurking, Dark Stranger seems to know their plight, and a strikingly beautiful, fearless girl lends way to heightened confusion. Shocking details about these two characters, and the evil antagonist, the dreaded Druth, twist and grind the story even further. Despite tension and fierce battles, will the boys hold it together long enough to fulfill their destiny? Intriguing, intelligent, beautifully written, and full of action, The Urban Boys: Discovery of the Five Senses offers a memorable, emotion-packed, thrilling ride for young and mature readers alike!
Upon reaching the preserve, everyone knew that the explanation of this incident was dreadfully imminent. With parents already on edge, the looming task of crafting a story out of thin air was one that was not only sickening, but would place a larger wedge between father and son.
And at this point, Alex was basically despondent. He touched Jordan’s opposite shoulder and simply walked away. Chase, Kinsu, and Rhee stayed with the Dark Stranger as he walked toward Jordan’s house to deliver him safely. Jordan stood on his own and said, “I’ll be alright guys. We couldn’t have known it would come to this.” He looked the Dark Stranger in the eye and said, “Thank you.” Jordan held his wound and walked through the unlocked back door praying he would not wake Russell or Mason. He turned around and gave a nod of reassurance, and then went inside.
The Dark Stranger took a few steps and whispered to himself, “He’s getting bolder by the day,” but Kinsu heard him.
“Who is?” asked Kinsu.
The Dark Stranger walked away, but Kinsu followed him and grabbed at his cape asking again, “Who’s getting bolder? What’s happening over there? With Jordan getting hurt and that girl coming out of nowhere, you need to tell us what’s going on!”
The Dark Stranger nodded in agreement knowing the time had come for the boys to know more, but it would not be tonight. He grabbed Kinsu’s arm, nodded again, and then ran off into the night. With Chase and Rhee standing behind Kinsu, whose hair was briefly whipped from the air flying from the Dark Stranger’s cape, they understood that they were all alone. They had no clues to a dramatic puzzle which had simply been forced upon them.
“Unbelievable!” said Kinsu.
And they all walked away feeling somber, drained, and still wondering, who was that girl?
