What are you currently reading?
Currently I’m reading Eros Element, the first installment in the Aether Psychics series by Cecilia Dominic. I just started reading the first few chapters on Sunday, and so far I am thoroughly impressed with the character Edward Bailey, who is nothing but a pretentious ball of nerves. His character reminds me of Sheldon on Big Bang Theory, and I can’t help but giggle at his dialogue. There is definitely a sense of intrigue going about, and it seems that there is also a backstabber on the loose.
If love is the ivy, secrets are the poison.
After enduring heartbreak at the hands of a dishonest woman, Edward Bailey lives according to scientific principles of structure and predictability. Just the thought of stepping outside his strict routine raises his anxiety.
Adding to his discomfort is Iris McTavish, who appears at his school’s faculty meeting in place of her world-famous archeologist father. Worse, the two of them are to pose as Grand Tourists while they search for an element that will help harness the power of aether.
Iris jumps at the opportunity to prove her worth as a scholar—and avoid an unwanted marriage proposal—while hiding the truth of her father’s whereabouts. If her secret gets out, the house of McTavish will fall into ruin.
Quite unexpectedly, Edward and Iris discover a growing attraction as their journey takes them to Paris and Rome, where betrayal, blackmail and outright theft threaten to destroy what could be a revolutionary discovery—and break their hearts.
What did you just finish reading?
The Lady and the Mountain Man is currently free on Amazon! It took me a while to read. Every evening when I’d sit down with my book I’d end up reading only a few pages before being out like a light. The book ended on the same note I knew it would, but it was how the ending came about that surprised me.
Leah, the MC, has so many unexpected turns throughout her journey after discovering that her fiance plans to kill her after the wedding. Doing what any sensible woman would do, she flees west on the promise of a newspaper marriage proposal from a green-eyed, red-headed, God-fearing rancher in the Montana Territory. When she arrives, she learns that all her hopes are dashed like her intended was by a grizzly. That’s when things really start to get interesting!
This is the first in the Mountain Dreams series by Misty M. Beller. Be on the lookout for my review in early December.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Of course following the first in the series will be the next in the Aether Psychics series, Light Fantastique. I am very intrigued as to who the women on the covers are supposed to be, so I’m itching to get through the first book and on to the second.
How about you? What are you reading this week?
