The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It was a little strange being on holiday smack in the middle of the week. Veteran’s Day has never been a holiday for teachers in my district in years, and never in the middle of the week. I’m not sure what prompted this change to our annual calendar, but it meant Baby got to get a second dose of her new BFF Lucy mid-week and I got to spend it with my combat veteran who is now a police officer.
My UIL students are coming along in their work, and I am hoping for some high places at our competition in January! School has been a hectic mess, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

We’ve always had Veteran’s day as a holiday and it’s always been a strange one because it just happens to fall on whenever 11/11 is. This year the school district was out for a full day on 11/11 and a half day on 11/10 so it was definitely a weird week here! Hopefully things will start to be less of a mess soon but I imagine some of that is just a casualty of this time of year with all the holidays. Have a great week!
My husband always gets Veteran’s Day off, but as a freelancer, I often have to work. So he ran errands while I got down to business. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by my blog; I’m glad to “meet” you!
Glad to “meet” you, too! I look forward to seeing more from the Hoard!
We don’t have Veteran’s Day in Switzerland, but it sounds really nice to have a day off in the middle of the week Charlie 🙂
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading!
I do not think the local kids had off for Veteran’s Day. My hubby alway works. Hope you have a great week.
Thanks for the linkup!
It’s nice you got the day off. My kids had to go to school and my hubby had to work.
A break in the middle of the week is always nice. I hope this week is a good one as well. Thank you for stopping by my blog- it’s always nice to meet fellow Sunday Post’ers. 🙂
Looks like some fun posts this week!
Odd to make a holiday in the middle of the week!
In Australia 11 November is Remembrance Day. It’s not a holiday but people traditionally lay wreaths at military services and respect 1 minute’s silence at 11am (on 11th of 11th).
Yeah, having Wednesday off like that felt odd, like it was Saturday. It was still nice to honor the Veterans though.
I’m shocked. I thought all schools were closed for Veteran’s Day. Isn’t it a National holiday? Do you guys have to work Labor Day and Memorial Day, too?
It is a national holiday; the banks and libraries were closed, but the schools weren’t (at least where I live in Tennessee). I guess for the schools it depends on the school district. My kids always get off for Labor Day and Memorial Day, though. Maybe because Veterans Day is so close to their Fall Break, that’s why they don’t get that day off.
