The Question:

What is the first book you remember reading? – Bookish Findings

My Answer:

First book that I remember reading…I remember before we moved to help take care of my great-grandmother, well before I started school, my mother had ordered the Little Golden Books and a large collection of full-size Disney books for me. The Disney books were far too advanced for me at the time; they were suitable to read as a 3rd grader, but we read them anyway.

But the one I remember reading over and over was Ferdinand.

Ferdinand is a quiet, peaceful young bull who only wants to stop and smell the flowers. But, when he is stung by a bee, the townspeople believe he is ferocious and take him to the bullfight ring!

I loved the story and the book so much. Oh, how I loved Ferdinand. I think I started picking flowers because of reading this book. There is also a Disney short about Ferdinand, which won an Academy Award. When preparing this post, I discovered that the matadors in the short are caricatures of the cartoonists, lead by Walt Disney himself. Take a look!
