Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read
There are probably more than ten books I’ll probably never read. The point is, I don’t really care about books I have no intention of reading.
Beloved ~ Toni morrison
I was assigned to read Beloved for senior English. I just could not get past some of the content of the book. I don’t think I will ever pick it up again, no matter how much literary merit it has.
Moby Dick ~ Herman Melville
As cute as it was that Matilda was reading Moby Dick, I find no attraction to it. In my mind it is The Old Man and the Sea on a larger scale. And just as boring.
The Lord of the Rings ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
Just no. I already have a mega-series on my hands.
Game of Thrones ~ George R.R. Martin
Again, no. I am just fine settling for watching the show.
Crime and Punishment ~ Fyodor Dostoyevsky
I know it is a brilliant insight into the human psyche and has acclaimed merit, but I don’t think I’d ever make it through. And honestly, it doesn’t really interest me. Sorry, AP English teachers.
Life of Pi ~ Yann Martel
A phenomenal story, yes. One I want to read about? No.
Anything by Stephen King
The man scares himself with his writing. I have enough on my plate without wanting to be paranoid and afraid to sleep. No, thank you.
Don Quixote ~ Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
As much as I loved watching a play of Don Quixote in high school, I will pass. I think I got enough of the experience.
Memoirs of a Geisha ~ Arthur Golden
I love the idea behind this book, but I’ve just reached a point in my life where I want to see love. Real love. Not representations that promote women in situations of power and where love is scorned.
Watership Down ~ Richard Adams
I started reading this when I was younger, and it did not catch my fancy at all.
