Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly meme feature created at The Broke and the Bookish. We’d love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists. For the list of past topics and future schedule, click here.

Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To

11710373I am a lover of Diana Gabaldon. I fell in love with the Outlander series many years ago, and I love the characters. I bought Written In My Own Heart’s Blood as soon as I saw it on the shelves, but I need to do some serious catch up with the series before I can read it.

The Book of Life was a book I received from a giveaway and has been sitting on my shelf. The cover, the design, the green draws me in each time I see it. I didn’t know it was the third in the series, and I can’t start in the middle of anything. It’s sacrilege in my book, so I’ve got to start at the beginning before I can read this one.

16151118Far From You was a 2014 release that just caught my eye. The twinkly lights were placed just so for perfect effect.

I *think* I have Maybe Someday somewhere on my shelf of double-stacked TBR books, too.

If not, I’ll get it….and I’ll get around to reading it as well.

17984141Seriously, I know. Why haven’t I already read this? Remember, I hate hype. This was also one of Nyze’s book picks for me for the GIF Tag….and I was slightly terrified after reading the synopsis. This one is lower down on the list, but…what’s life like without a little fear? I want to at least give it a try.

Camelot Burning was one I also received from a giveaway. It’s still on that double-stacked TBR shelf, but with my resolutions for the year and my interest in Arthurian legend, it won’t be there for long!

I sound like a broken record…Yep, another giveaway! I think this was actually the first giveaway gift I received last year. It’s on the shelf with its friends, but it’ll be a spring read.

The cover? Helllooooo!

It’s very eye-catching. I want.

My school library lady (she’s an aide, not a full-fledged librarian…but she should be!) got to meet Rick Riordan up close and personal at the Texas Teen Book Festival last year…and he retweeted their picture! I want to read the Heroes of Olympus series, but I need to start with The Lost Hero. If you saw the GIF Tag, you’ll know how keen I am on starting more series.

How could I forget the best book of summer? It is on my shelf, and I am definitely reading it this summer! … Perhaps I’ll be reading it from Hawaii. We’ll see. 😉

  1. Is Daughter of the Gods set in ancient Egypt? If yes, I need the book now!

The Book of Life was a book I meant to read last year and never got around to it.

If you want to see my thoughts about the latest Outlander series, stop by. My review just posted yesterday. 🙂

  2. I’ve heard such great things about Since You’ve Been Gone though I haven’t read it either. I’ve heard that the inside dust jacket of the hardcover actually has a cool picture on it which is awesome! The Young Elites sounds really good as well, I loved Marie Lu’s Legend. I hope you get around to reading these this year! 🙂

  3. The Young Elites also made my list. I really need to read it soon! And I just got a copy of Since You’ve Been Gone. So I am looking forward to reading that one too. I have heard great things about both of them! I haven’t read any of the other books on your list, but I did buy Outlander, so I hope to read that one this year. Great list! I hope you get the chance to read all of them this year!

  4. I’m reading The Young Elites right now and so far it’s really good. I haven’t read anything else by Marie Lu. Have you read the Legend series?
