This week’s question:

What are your non-book guilty pleasures? (TV shows, food, websites, hobbies, etc.)

My Answer:

Ummm…non-book guilty pleasures? Does that mean I can’t read a book? 😉

I wouldn’t call these guilty pleasures, but other non-book things I have come to enjoy and am determined to make more time for:

  1. Keeping up with TV shows I’m interested in. I don’t watch TV, like at all, so this really requires positive word-of-mouth ravings.
  2. Gardening. I inherited a green thumb from my dad, and do not seem to be hindered by my mother’s black thumb. In fact, here is a picture of my patio. I have had the ivy for several years now, and D got the spider plant last year. All the others I have bought or planted from seeds! Like Parajunkee said, it can be quite expensive.
  3. Time with friends and family. Need I say more?
  4. Activities and hobbies to do WITH D – like gaming. It’s a favorite of his, so we play pretty much all the Lego games together.
  5. Writing. I REALLY want to get back to that this summer. It’s like I’ve been suppressing a vital part of me for a while now.
  6. Self improvement. I know this sounds silly, but I need to work on my makeup, hair and accessorizing skills. I have been too blase for too long. It’s time to step it up Charlie girl!
  7. I also need to work on puzzles. *opens closet* *puzzle explosion!*
  8. I enjoy working on crafts – I just need to find meaningful ones that are useful to me, or to someone else who I can make them for.
  9. SWIMMING and taking in the SUMMER SUN! I am dedicated to all things summer!
Next week’s question:Armchair Travel! Tell us about your favorite book in a setting you’d like to visit (a real place for this question)

What about you? What are your non-book hobbies and interests? Leave me a comment with your response and your Friday Follow.

    • Thanks for stopping by Alison! The last several years I haven’t had a table surface large enough to do a puzzle that wouldn’t get in the way of every day life, but I’m hoping to change that! I did one a few years ago that I glued and all, and gave to my little cousin. Her parents were supposed to frame it. I want to keep doing that. I’ll share my puzzles on the blog, so come back during the summer to see what I do!

  1. Admittedly I am a huge girlie girl and I love fashion. I’m in the process of revamping my closet, I also have a pool in my backyard so from Spring to Fall I’m a fish (I live in the south) so you should be a mermaid like me!!
Love your site and new follower via bloglovin!

    • Oh, yes, Rebecca, I live in Texas so it is HOT! I am definitely a mermaid…or a fish…or turtle. I am a Pieces, and my mother started me in swim lessons practically at birth (thank you, thank you, Mom!), so I have a definite affinity for water. And you can find me in it all summer long!

I’ve never been a girly girl or really into fashion, but some days lately I realize I look like hell on wheels. And I teach 6th grade. Let’s not give them more ammo than they need! One teacher friend (who retired last year) told me to always go in with your battle face (make up on and in place) and it will do a lot. In the fall, after I got tired of putting on makeup every morning, I did notice a change in my students’ behavior. It does matter!

    • Summer is definitely time to catch up – on a lot of things! I have been so out of the loop the last couple years, I don’t even know half the things that are on TV anymore, or what’s new! Guess it’s not that important, huh?

    • Hi Jennifer!

This is only my second FF, and earlier this week I figured out how to set up Bloglovin’, so now I have that too! I just hadn’t updated my post, but thank you for mentioning it! I’ll go add the Bloglovin’ button!
